Why we run a sample sale

Why we run a sample sale

I have loved luxury since I was young.

Not in an aspirational, keep-up-with-everyone way. More quietly than that. I was drawn to the craft of it — the idea that something could be made so carefully, so intentionally, that it would last a lifetime and mean something while doing it.

My first luxury purchase was more than fifteen years ago. I saved for ages for it. I was ecstatic in the way you only are when something has taken genuine effort to obtain.

Not long after, I watched a documentary about one of the luxury houses I had always dreamed of owning. What I saw has stayed with me ever since.

A single wrong stitch on a bag meant that bag was destroyed. Because the brand's image could not accommodate imperfection

My heart sank.

I would have bought that bag. The slightly imperfect stitch would not have diminished it for me. If anything, I think I would have loved it more — knowing its story, knowing it almost didn't make it.

But I never got the chance. Nobody did.

It seemed like a waste.

When I started The Traveller Series, I faced the same reality.

Every maker faces the same reality at some point. Not every piece passes quality checks. A moonstone with a black minerals. A pearl with a minor surface mark. A piece that is technically wearable, genuinely beautiful, but does not meet the standard we set for full-price sale.

In the industry, the default answer is destruction or landfill.

I could not do it.

Not the water that went into the materials. Not the hands that shaped them. Not the earth that gave them. I thought these were not failed pieces — they were real pieces with a story that did not fit a perfect mould, and there is nothing wrong with that.

So we created our Sample Sale.

A decision rooted in a value of wasting less, and honouring our resources and people more. Something I felt watching that documentary more than a decade ago — that beauty should not be wasted, and that the people who would truly love something deserve the chance to own it, even if it arrived at their door by an unconventional path.

What you will find in our sample sale

Every piece in our sample sale is real jewellery. Wearable, meaningful, made with the same materials and care as everything else we make. The imperfections are minor — a small surface mark, a slight variation in finish, something that would only be visible if you were looking upclose. Most people never notice. Most people wear them proudly and receive many compliments still.

Prices reflect the reality of the piece, not a manufactured discount. And when they are gone, they are gone — we do not have a set restock of samples, they come in organically through the seasons. We do our best to launch them twice a year in June and in December.

If you have been waiting for a reason to try The Traveller Series, or if you simply believe, as I do, that beautiful things deserve a home rather than a bin — this is for you.
